First ride

A short setup, then just ride

  1. Set a compatible Yamaha display or interface to YEP1.0 Bluetooth app mode.
  2. Open Yahride on Apple Watch and iPhone for initial setup, then allow Health, Location, and Bluetooth access.
  3. Start from Apple Watch. It connects directly to the saved bike and can record the complete ride without the iPhone nearby. You can also record from iPhone when riding without the Watch.
  4. Stay near the bike while Yahride connects; open the iPhone dashboard for the live map and expanded pages.
  5. Finish and choose whether to save or discard the workout.

Useful reports

Share the ride context

For a bug or compatibility report, include what you can from this list. Do not send Health or precise route data unless you intentionally choose to.

  1. iPhone, Apple Watch, iOS, watchOS, and Yahride versions
  2. Bike brand, model, drive unit, and display or interface
  3. The screen and connection state where the issue appeared
  4. The visible error text or a redacted screenshot
  5. Short steps that reproduce the problem

FAQ

Good to know

Why can't Yahride find my bike?

Confirm the display or interface supports YEP1.0 app mode, enable it, stay within about one metre, and power-cycle the bike before scanning again. Third-party frame brands may still advertise as “Yamaha” or “Yamaha X2Y.”

Why is Watch data missing on iPhone?

Open Yahride on both devices and wait for Watch connectivity to recover. Confirm Bluetooth is enabled and that the Watch app remains installed.

Why wasn't a workout saved to Health?

Review Health permissions for workouts, heart rate, active energy, cycling distance, speed, cadence, and power. The ride must be saved rather than discarded when it ends.

Why isn't the route visible?

Load the saved route on iPhone before riding, confirm Location access, and keep the workout active. The Watch mirrors the currently loaded phone route; it does not include a separate route picker.

Can I ride without Apple Watch?

Yes. Start from iPhone for phone-only recording, live metrics, mapping, route status, and supported Health workout saving.

Can I leave my iPhone at home?

Yes. Once your bike is set up, Apple Watch connects to it directly over Bluetooth and shows live bike and workout metrics while recording with Watch GPS and sensors. The iPhone adds the larger map, route library, imports, and exports, but it does not need to be nearby for a Watch ride.

Can Yahride tune or derestrict my bike?

No. Yahride is deliberately read-only. It shows supported telemetry and uses only the session commands required for recording.

Which route files can I use?

Import GPX into the local route library. Finished rides can be shared as GPX, TCX, or FIT files.

What data does Yahride collect?

None is collected by the developer. Yahride has no account, ads, analytics, tracking, or developer-operated server. Read the complete privacy policy for details.
